Student receives $20,000 college scholarship
Luis F. Andreu of West Broward High School in Pembroke Pines is the recipient of FPL’s 2018 robotics college scholarship. As the winner, Luis will receive $5,000 annually up to $20,000 to assist him through college. The 17-year old member of the BOTCATS team will be attending The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta to pursue a career in mechanical engineering.
FPL has a longstanding commitment to ensure students have access to effective robotics programs to drive student engagement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) curricula. In many cases, these programs also help break down barriers and provide more opportunities to traditionally underserved populations. The annual robotics scholarship, launched in 2016, is another addition to the company’s growing involvement in this educational sector.
Congratulations Luis, you have a bright future ahead!
