Smart technology to power your 2018

by | Nov 15, 2017 | 0 comments

I’ve got a running list of things I want to accomplish on a daily basis, and as a mom of three, I know how hectic everyone gets especially around the holidays. Making the most of smart technology for energy savings may not be at the top of your to-do list, but small changes can make a real difference in your lifestyle and your wallet – now and in the coming year. One of the things I love most about coming to work every day at FPL is being able to come up with new ways to help my friends and neighbors use smart technology to save energy and make their lives a little easier.

It’s been an exciting year. We’ve introduced several new technologies that are convenient, easy to use and put savings at your fingertips. This year we launched the FPL Mobile App, helping you see how much energy you’re using, view your projected bill before it’s due and manage your account no matter where you are. You can even check your balance and pay your bill.

Everyone and everything is getting smarter these days. The smart home uses smart tools that can manage your home settings, even when you’re not there. One of the tools I use is the new ecobee4 Smart Thermostat with built-in Amazon Alexa.  Alexa can change thermostat settings, as well as get updates on current traffic and weather. Enable the FPL skill, and you can even “Ask FPL for energy savings tips.” The ecobee4 Smart Thermostat has helped me manage my energy usage at home.

We can’t wait to show you what’s next! We’re always looking for ways to help you save. Next year we’ll be rolling out enhancements and additional security features for the FPL Mobile App, and new capabilities on including a virtual assistant to help you find what you need, faster.

It’s always great to hear from you. We will continue to update you on what’s new, so be sure to stay connected.
