Bringing smiles and supplies to our homebound neighbors
Preparing for storm season can be tough for homebound seniors and disabled adults, but we’ve partnered with Meals on Wheels to help alleviate the process
Anne has been a client of Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches (MOWPB) for four years. For seniors like her, preparing for emergencies such as a storm can be difficult.
And for us at FPL, we know how important it is to be prepared for hurricane season and severe weather. That’s why, for the past three years, we’ve partnered with MOWPB to bring hurricane kits to homebound seniors and disabled adults.
These kits, which will help in the aftermath of a storm or other emergency, consist of a three-day supply of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks and water. After assembling the kits, we deliver them to the homes of MOWPB clients and bring along our smiles to brighten their day.
“Thank you so much,” Anne said. “Because it means a lot to me just to know that there is something here and I don’t have to worry about getting it in a storm situation.”
Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches is a local organization that provides service and companionship to senior citizens. MOWPB provides daily safety checkups and delivers hot nutritious meals to each of the 250 clients it assists in Palm Beach County.
Meals on Wheels organizations both locally and across the country enable and encourage senior citizens to continue living safely and independently in the comfort of their own homes.
