Bringing Energy Efficiency Education to Schools
At FPL, we’re committed to education and enriching Florida students’ experiences. One way we do this is by partnering with The National Theatre for Children (NTC) to bring to elementary schools throughout our service area Captain Wattage – a show about electricity and energy conservation.
Captain Wattage, hero of everything to do with energy, saves the city from danger when he learns that Vivica Voltage, waste-ress supreme, is leaving lights on all over the city. Not only that, but she is wasting energy as fast as she can. With the help of students, Captain Wattage sets off to stop Vivica.
In addition to the live performances, the program includes online student playbooks, teacher guides and digital games and activities that align with the important concepts in the live shows.
This fall, Captain Wattage will visit more than 70 schools in an engaging, action-packed performance reaching nearly 70,000 students across Florida. You can find Captain Wattage and Vivica Voltage in a school near you including in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia, Seminole, Brevard, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, Indian River, Martin, Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.
