Restoring power -- anytime, anywhere


From time to time, you may see an FPL truck parked near your home late at night, possibly even when your power is working just fine. Don’t be alarmed. Our crews work around the clock to restore power, and they may need to work on equipment located near you to resolve an outage in your area—even when your power is on.

Many power disturbances are caused by weather, vegetation interfering with power lines or animals making contact with electrical equipment. While there’s no way to predict when such forces of nature will strike, we’re always ready to respond.

While most Florida residents are asleep at night, our crews are working to restore power safely and as quickly as possible, regardless of where power disturbances have occurred. In fact, FPL’s restoration speed is among the fastest in the nation. That means you get faster restoration after an outage than customers of nearly all other comparable utility companies in the country.

Authorized FPL employees or contractors always carry a photo identification badge. If you’re in doubt about someone in your neighborhood claiming to be with FPL, you can call us at the number shown on your bill to confirm that our crews have been dispatched to your area.

Our restoration specialists always try to notify the customer located closest to the work site, regardless of the time of day or night. You can be sure we’ll always work to complete the job safely and as quickly and quietly as possible.

    My question is on the smart meters, everything that is on the web can’t be false, I’m disabled and need power all the time. I am opting out of the smart meter being rates will rise and being I’ve been told many with health issues will only worsen with the smart meter. I have asked a copy on any studies that have been done on health especially many who have immune issues. I also feel FPL has known by me telling them many times about my health issues, I also feel that because of the 95.00 charge for opting out and the extra 13.00 a month. I will contact the ADA being I feel I’m being discriminated against being I have to opt out because I’ve been told there are no health studies no one has shown me any studies on health issues. The ADA laws in Florida anyone with a disability and any company needs to provide what they need to accomadate there situation. If something like this is being put in peoples homes there should be health studies before it’s allowed, I can’t afford the 95.00 or the extra 13.00 a month being I’m on a fixed income..Both charges is a penality not a fee, plus how many employees have lost there jobs because of the smart meters and how many years ago did FPL say they would put all FPL wiring underground in order to raise there rates. FPL is a monopoly in Fl and should not be allowed to do what they do. I’m suer this comment either won;t appear after the moderator reads it that’s why I will copy it and send to the ADA in Washington.. Thanks for your time
