Showing the Power to Care

This year, at FPL we celebrated our 10th annual Power to Care Week, a company-sponsored week of service in our communities. Hundreds of our employees, family and friends came together to volunteer in 30 projects across 11 counties in our service area. Throughout the week, they rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to make the communities we serve even better places to work and raise families.  A few of the impacts made during the week include: More than 10,000 pounds of tomatoes gleaned with CROS Ministries to be distributed by Palm Beach County Food Bank; 100 “We Care” packages assembled and sent to U.S. soldiers deployed overseas by Forgotten Soldiers Outreach; More than 1,700 pounds of trash and debris collected at beaches in South Florida; Seven homes improved for neighbors in need in Florida City and Little Havana in Miami-Dade County and through partnerships with Habitat for Humanity in Manatee, Palm Beach and Volusia Counties; 1,000 meals packed for the Children’s Hunger Project in Brevard County, ensuring students have meals over the weekend; and One school beautification project in Palm Beach County and one school garden beautification project in Collier County. None of this could have been possible without the volunteerism of our FPL family and their commitment to FPL’s core value to do the right thing. Our employees give back to their communities not just...
